Art Program
We encourage our Trojans to explore their emotions

For Lincoln School, art and culture are of utmost importance, which is why there is a consolidated Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) program as part of the comprehensive education that our students receive at all levels. We have had an Arts Center since 2013 with first class facilities and classrooms and a theater with capacity for 296 people with state-of-the-art equipment to support the various artistic and cultural activities.

Currently the VPA program has theater, plastic arts and music classes, developing activities such as plays, musicals, concerts, painting exhibitions, etc. We have a chamber orchestra (strings) and a symphonic band in both Middle School and High School, which together form a large symphonic orchestra and recently created Lincoln Big Band.

In addition to engaging our students with the arts through our academic arts program, the Visual and Performing Arts Department seeks to promote and disseminate culture and the arts both within and outside of our community, linking our arts community with national and international arts education institutions as part of an innovative model.

Our goal is to position Lincoln School as the leading educational institution in Costa Rica in the development, promotion and dissemination of culture and arts as part of a holistic and innovative educational program..

Visual Arts

Our visual arts program allows our Trojans to express themselves creatively

From their early years, students learn the fundamentals of creative thinking and the habits necessary to construct imaginative and unique works of art; the discipline in handling materials when using their sketchbook and creating projects provide meaningful art experiences that become a way of thinking.

Students are introduced to various aspects of art through hands-on creative activities, and problem solving through a variety of tools, in order to stimulate, develop and refine critical ways of thinking. Students will learn to critique art and develop skills for observation, interpretation, and design. They will also become familiar with a wide range of artists and historical art movements..

The results of our visual arts program at Lincoln School are grouped into four areas:

  • A: Knowledge and Understanding.
  • B: Application
  • C: Analysis and Evaluation
  • D: Artistic awareness and personal engagement

Performing Arts

We encourage our Trojans to explore their emotions

Lincoln School aims to empower students with a background, understanding and passion for music, both as performers and listeners. We have an outstanding program rooted in a rich tradition of artistic excellence, offering students the best in music education.

They are encouraged to cultivate ideas, take risks and develop self-confidence. This program helps them to appreciate music by becoming critical and aesthetically sensitive to it.

The theater program is designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of acting and theatre production. Students use their imagination, research, visualization, emotional recall, and sense of memory to reproduce and control emotions on stage.

The ultimate goal is for students to use their skills and performance techniques as ways to become more confident, mature, balanced, clear, reflective, collaborative and creative.
