The Junior students of the Language A: Language and Literature class finished the IB Diploma component: Individual Oral.
Carmen Utreras, high school teacher, explained that this experience has the challenge of addressing a global problem from a literary perspective and relating it to a Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) while carrying out analysis and critical thinking process. Also, the students make a final recording that lasts 15 minutes.
- The IB Oral Individual assessment has 4 criteria:
- knowledge and understanding
- analysis and evaluation
- targeting and organization
- language
Two students share their experience after taking this test, they faced several stages as redesign their initial proposal and overcome fears to successfully complete this section of the IB program.
“One of my challenges was the length of the recording, I started with a lot of information and analysis, and it reached 17 minutes. In general, my experience with the Individual Oral was unique! I was very scared and nervous, but at the same time it was an exciting and satisfying experience,” said Camille Auberts, Class of 2023 student.
“I chose a poem by Emily Dickinson because of her perspective about death caught my attention and I connected it with a Banksy graffiti. On the test day I brought Beni, my favorite stuffed animal as a lucky charm. I was very stressed at the beginning when I saw the microphone since it has a lot of formality”, said Elena González, Class of 2023 student.
Our Juniors officially became Seniors this month, and we trust that they will soar through their last year at Lincoln School.
