With an enthusiastic and noble intention, members of the Middle School Student Government came up with an initiative that aims to engage the entire Lincoln School community to support the Founders Scholarship Fund.
We know that helping generates inner satisfaction, but this time such satisfaction will turn into a delicious sweetness for our palate. In collaboration with the Johnny Rockets franchise, a 3x2 Oreo Shakes promotion will be the way to contribute to the Founders Scholarship Fund. The offer will run from March 4-7, through UberEATS. Everyone's collaboration is important, as 30% of the proceeds raised will go to the Founders Scholarship Fund.
Founders Scholarship: A privilege
Ana Isabella Porras and Esteban Bolaños are two Trojans who have benefited from this scholarship for the last three years, when they enrolled to 8th grade. Today they are Juniors and are deeply grateful for the benefit of receiving a well-rounded education that will allow them to aspire to great opportunities in the future.
"My experience has been very normal; I joined a wonderful group of friends... no one has treated me differently. If someone asks me, 'Are you from Founders? I am not ashamed of saying, yes. I feel privileged, among so many students here; I was chosen to have this opportunity, and it has helped me to grow," said Porras.
According to Ana Isabella, the #milkshakeforfounders initiative gives visibility to the importance of the Founders Scholarship and spreads the word about what it represents to students who have access to this fund. For her, the relevance of participating in #milkshakeforfounders is that we should visualize the opportunities we give to others to be part of Lincoln's community.
Through the Founders scholarship, Esteban has been able to fulfill his potential as a high-performance athlete. Track and field and javelin throwing are this Trojan's passions, and he is confident that the opportunity to study at Lincoln School is a blessing for him and his family.
Why #milkshakeforfounders?
Sofia Keith and Ignacio González, 8th graders and members of the Student Government, explained that this initiative seeks to foster school spirit, as well as generate a positive impact for the scholarship students through a different and fun way to help.
According to Sofia, the goal is to help Founders through teamwork and community collaboration to ensure opportunities for scholarship students. They also intend to spread joy and positive energy as we overcome the aftermath of the pandemic together.
Ignacio emphasized on the need for the community involvement in this initiative, as a significant amount of sales will help to strengthen the scholarship fund. This will be a valuable contribution to the hard work of coordinating and managing the arrangements with Johnny Rockets. Our Trojan commented that it was a process of research and constant communication to make the collaboration with the franchise a reality.
Sofia mentioned that the project began last December, and in January they had the first email communication with the restaurant's marketing team. Finally, last February, thanks to persistence and perseverance, they were able to fine-tune the last details to secure the proposal and help Founders.
How was the Founders Scholarship created?
Charles Averre II, son of Charles Averre - a member of Lincoln School's first Board of Trustees in the 1940s - had a vision to provide opportunities for outstanding students to access the unique educational model provided by Lincoln School.
The Founders Scholarship Fund was established in 2007 through seed money. The beneficiaries of this project possess special qualities in one of the following areas: academics, arts or sports.
There are currently six students receiving an education at Lincoln School through the Founders Scholarship Fund.
